"White House Under Siege!"
“White House Under Siege!”
By the Russians? No. By ISIS? No. By a foreign enemy? No. They are under siege by none of these things. The White House is under siege by the mainstream media. The mainstream media are no longer the 4th Estate, they are acting as prosecutors for the superstate. This means the democrats, primarily, but also the a good many republicans, as well. They appear to have one job; look for incriminating evidence, no matter how innocuous, and then use your gift as a journalist to spin a yarn showing president Trump in the worst possible light. Spin these yarns with such speed that the tangle of news and more news becomes unmanageable. It is a ratio of a hundred to one. A thousand to one. The odds are so overwhelming that only a few things can happen; either Donald Trump will resign in disgrace—or, he will find a way to counter attack.
All is not lost, however, the president has a counterculture army playing the same game, passing on hearsay, creating fake news as a diversionary tactic to demean and degrade the enemy. In that regard, president Trump has allies.
The first real shot across the bow in this current information war, was the fake news of “Net Neutrality,” a fictional problem created by then president Obama and his team of disinformation experts.
Net Neutrality was supposed to protect Americans from the cyber problem of “Throttling,” which simply meant that big corporations might give special treatment to those who paved and paid the way for the cyber-highway that we all use. This was intended to scare the Left by invoking the word “Corporations,” which hints at capitalism, their great enemy. Net Neutrality would allegedly protect the little internet sites from the big, predatory sites consuming all the bandwidth, leaving the little internet sites gasping for space. There was just one problem with this scenario, no one produced any meaningful evidence that throttling had taken place, except as a means of easing traffic during periods of high usage. That companies like Netflix and Comcast required more data, was a given, since they were among the most commonly used. They also were the ones who paid to lay the line, expanding internet usage for all, poor and rich alike.
In order to fight the power, president Obama brought together the biggest corporations on earth, so they could fight against a corporate takeover of the world wide web—much the way a person might hire a group of carnivorous foxes to guard a hen house. So concerned was president Obama about this issue, that he lobbied for 5 unelected officials to decide the fate of the entire world wide web, using an arcane, 75 year old telecommunications law. Clearly, for his allies, this was democracy in action. Don’t let the market decide. Don’t let people choose. No, five unelected officials should make that decision for the other 325 million Americans. That was Obama’s view of democracy. More than a few republicans agreed, as well. If not about the issue of Net Neutrality, they certainly agreed with anything that would increase their power, and that of the superstate.
Net Neutrality actually means this; the internet is an unruly, profane, uncontrollable source of information and disinformation. Authoritarians don’t like this. Plus, a huge amount of tax revenue is being lost, and the government loves taxes. Without taxes, lots of taxes, your Uncle Sam is dead broke. Sure, he can pay his bills, but that’s about it. How can your beloved Uncle Sam bribe voters with the offer of free things—which aren’t really free—if the American people keep a tight reign on his spending proclivities? How can our political betters elect who they want, if Americans are actually free to decide for themselves, which marginalizes Washington, just as the founding fathers intended?
“I know! Net Neutrality!” They said.
And, with that, the myth of dastardly corporations throttling the poor was born as an excuse for the takeover of the single most democratizing tool ever created. For our own good, mind you, always for our own good.
This battle for control is not new. It’s as old as human society. From tribalism, to the modern super-state—who controls what we see and hear—is an ongoing war, which can never really end. Naked ambition will never easily give way to the democratic process. And, society will likely always be divided between those who value freedom, and those who will trade freedom for some limited assurance. This war is currently heating up, though. Like molten lava trickling through the nation’s veins, either the people will awaken and win, or the super-state comprised of multinational corporations, banks and politicians will. Just follow the money trail for your answer. Therein lies the enemy.
