"Muthafuckin' Chains!"
A Poem – “Muthafuckin Chains!”
"When dat nigga would play, he was tappin’ into the universe and shit!
They was like, African Kings and Queens, beautiful Black Babies, the dissonant sounds of time and space were harmonized!
Not none of them white-ass muthafuckas, playin’ they white-ass jazz!
We talking the original man. The Brother. The Mother. The Sista.
The African rhythm! The sound of the drum! Bombastic, and soulfully loquacious saxophones.
Coltrane! Monk! Bird! Ornette!
Struggling to be free of the man’s chains, even them invisible muthafuckas.
Chains you cain’t see. But they there.
Muthafuckin chains!
Muthafuckin’ chains!"
