We Have Not Yet Begun To Fight

We Have Not Yet Begun to Fight!

On November 6, 2012, my country committed national suicide.  A majority of my fellow citizens, a slim one to be sure, but a majority nonetheless, proved to be so completely ignorant as to vote a second term for President Barack Hussein Obama.  This despite an economy in shambles thanks to his incompetence or his deliberate intent to destroy it.  We are a nation increasingly divided by his polarizing policies, with a standing in the world so debased as to be seen as a joke among friends and enemies alike.  I would say it was a case of national insanity, but it now feel more like a case of national stupidity.  The undeniable stupidity of more than half its citizens–those who would rather sit on their lazy, greedy butts and do nothing but feed at the government hog trough than work hard and receive what they earn on their own.

When the realization hit me that this was reality, instead of some nightmare that I could wake up from, I alternated between total despair and barely contained fury.

In my depression I felt like throwing in the towel and giving up completely.  If my country had become so insane as to reelect an incompetent politician like Barack Obama, then what was the use?  If there was no viable, truly conservative option for a third party, and with the out of touch, RINO GOP elite insistent on running “moderates” that were so much like Democrats that any difference was negligible, then why bother?  I was continually reminded of a line in ‘The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down’ by The Band, “You can’t raise a king back up when he’s in defeat.”  I couldn't think of a single reason to even try to go on fighting to win my country back.

When I finally got over my despondency, I thought about George Washington and the other Revolutionary War heroes.  Would they have given up?  Hell, no.  They fought on against much greater odds, with numerous setbacks and seemingly insurmountable obstacles and they eventually triumphed.  They won not only their freedom, but our as well.  This once-great country that I've loved for most of my life, until this insanity, has not only accepted, but embraced, Liberalism and Socialism as a way of life.  This despite the fact that Socialism in all of its many guises has proven to be an abject failure every where it has been tried.  Still, a slim and increasingly ignorant majority have voted to try it here once again.

So, despite my intentions to give up on politics and let the fools who voted for the President go ahead and allow him destroy this country, I've decided to get back up on my feet, get back in the ring, and fight another round.  Like my country’s founders before me, I saw no alternative but to fight, despite the substantial odds against victory.  Why?--because surrender and acquiescence is unacceptable.  Like those brave men and women who fought to establish this country, I will carry on to the very end, no matter how hard and bitter it may become.  We may not be able to win the US back from the forces of darkness that have won the opening battle, but if we don't try, defeat will be guaranteed.  And that defies every principle that this once-great country was founded on and that millions have died to protect.

So let the Leftists, the Liberals, the Socialists, and the Communists who think they have finally conquered my country from within beware.  In the words of John Paul Jones, one of those brave men who fought to free this country from the same type of tyranny it suffers from today – “We have not yet begun to fight!”
