The New Progressive Racism
If you listen to politicians, both Black and White, but always Liberal, they will argue that Black folk can’t get ahead. Can’t tow the mark. Not without Uncle Sam there to help at every turn, they can’t. Why? Because of racism, which is alive and well, just living slightly under the radar. Amazingly, liberals, almost unanimously, buy this argument without a second thought. As a jazz musician of a certain age, I can show you hundreds of examples of African American men, mostly, but some woman, who not only excelled at the highest level intellectually and aesthetically, they thrived and were genuine innovators and artists of the first rank.
This was not only common amongst jazz musicians when jazz was America’s popular music, it was widely acknowledged by musicians and critics alike. That was 70 years ago, long before most civil rights legislation was even a gleam in the eye of our political class. Those were the days when democrats were the party of slavery and Jim Crow, standing in the schoolhouse door, blocking access to African America children trying to get an education.
Today, what were once well-intended programs designed to aid in the advancement of Black folk, have become the democrats stranglehold on the worst crime-ridden neighborhoods in America. And all they ever offer is more of the same as a solution.
Watch this video of a great African American artist, from more than 50 years ago and you’ll see just how capable Black people can be, in spite of bigotry. And then ask yourself whether a half century of crumbling, crack infested inner cities, sustained by welfare, that more closely resembles a third world socialist hellhole, should be the continuing answer.
As Stan “The Man” Lee used to say; “Nuff Said.”
