                  Terror in Turkey

Picture
40 people were killed, with another 230 wounded yesterday in Turkey, a Muslim country, filled with Muslims. No one should be surprised that a Muslim country has lots of Muslims. That’s why it’s a Muslim country. And, likewise, no should be surprised that it was mostly Muslims who were killed….it being a Muslim country and all. So, why were they killed? Because they were Muslims. Who killed them? Muslims. Is the answer.

Everybody acknowledges it was an act of terror that was committed by Muslims against Muslims. The why of it found very different responses. For some people, it was an act of terror that targeted Muslims because Muslims have been killing one another, even more than they’ve been killing non-Muslims, for as long as anyone can remember. That was pretty much directly after the death of Mohamed, as Muslims split into factions over who was really an authentic Muslim and who wasn’t. Prior to that, when Mohamed was still alive, it was everybody else that Muslims were killing, as they built their religious empire on the basis of war and terror.

But all nations kill. Right?

Yes, all nations, with a few exceptions, kill. But few consciously target civilian populations, including women and children, with the sole intent of inflicting as much horror and carnage as possible.
This isn't combat, with civilian casualties. It is a case of targeting a space where average folk are going about their business, like the Orlando shooting. Or, the San Bernardino massacre. Or, 9/11. Or, literally hundreds of other mass killings that have targeted civilians from Israel to London, from the U.S. to Turkey, France, Brussels, China, Sweden, Africa and just about every other country, everywhere else in the world.

So what is the connecting tissue? After yesterday’s heinous attack, John Kerry gave a rousing speech blaming the terror on…..wait for it…. “Bad Governance.” That’s right, it was bad government, unsympathetic and uncaring, one can assume, that led all these Muslims to pick up guns and strap on bombs and murder as many innocent people as possible. That was the connecting tissue. Not Islam, which was present and THE prime motivator behind ALL of these killings, according to the killers. Because Islam is a religion of peace, therefore Islam can’t be to blame, which is racist, even though Islam isn’t a race, but a religious ideology shared by White Muslims and Black Muslims and Brown Muslims, living everywhere in the world, where they kill regardless of race and national origin. Meaning, that Islam, is an equal opportunity killer, death for all, death to the infidel, praise Allah and kill….kill….kill.

Let’s not go crazy here, though. Let’s remember the words of John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton, there is no radical Islam. There is only bad governance. And that should make us all feel better.
