Sometimes You Just Can't Win
Here's what the GOP is up against from the media; Donald Trump is a racist blowhard. Ted Cruz is borderline insane and lacks sincerity. Marco Rubio is young and likes water, too damn much. Plus, his finances are a mess--sort of. Ben Carson, while a brilliant surgeon, is a whacko. Forget all that helping children business, he is a young-earth creationist. " And don't try and tell me otherwise. I know a wacko when I see one!'' Carly Fiorina is a loser who ran Hewlett Packard into the dirt. So say the many Hillary supporters, and that's good enough for me. Rand Paul is OK in my book, but only because he doesn't have a shot in hell. Chris Christie is fat. And last but certainly least, is Mike Huckabee, an old, White male who is a Christian. If that doesn't disqualify him from representing a nation comprised substantially of White, ageing, Christians, nothing will.
Now, compare that to the way that the media deals with the democrats--and I do mean just about all of the media--except you know who. This includes everything from the news to entertainment, from movies to talk shows, which goes something like this: Hillary Clinton is a woman. "Oh...that's not a good enough reason to make her the president? How sexist." Lies, scandal, poor judgement, a failed track record as Secretary of State, plus two terms as the Carpet Bagging Senator from New York who produced not a single piece of meaningful legislation. "What? That's a problem?'
How about Bernie Sanders, he's a self-proclaimed socialist. Saying this, for a progressive, however, is like saying Hillary is a woman, it is defacto proof of their worthiness to lead. I mean, some folks might rationally argue that socialism and democracy are like oil and water.
"Yes, and some people might say that a man can't be a woman, solely based on his /her own sense of identity. Does that sound rational? I don't think so.''
This, increasingly, is the world-view of the Left-wing of the democratic party, which is now the dominant faction in the party.
By comparison, the political Right will be fact-checked and then fact-checked again, mostly by progressives who (trust them) are always fair and impartial. But most folks won't know this, because whatever is said, will be upheld as the common wisdom. And, it should be obvious, when enough of the right people believe something, it must be true.
Finally, there's no lack of bullshit by either party. For me, however, the one that's most likely to get the hell out of the way and let Americans pursue happiness as they see fit, get's my vote.
Admittedly, this is a filthy job, sorting through all the media and political bullshit, but someone's got to do it. As Stan "The Man" Lee used to say "Nuff said."
