       Racism is Alive & Well

Picture
Racism is alive and well, mostly from the left, those who view themselves as virulently anti-racist.  These are the new racists.  The new racism is articulated like this; African Americans lived with slavery for 250 years.  After that, a hundred years of Jim Crow.  So, how does anyone rationally expect them to be equal?  This is true, more or less, but lacking in context. Here’s some much needed context:

Africans kings sold Africans into slavery, and they loved the shit out of the slavery business.  They loved it so much, that when England, that hotbed of crackers and honkies used their power to end slavery, on virtually a global basis, these aforementioned African kings said “No way.  We dig slavery.  Slavery is good.  Slavery is profitable.”

But, the English said “Bullshit.  No more slavery.  You got that!”  And, it pretty much ended.

Now, the real truth is that Africans didn’t see one another as Africans. They were members of tribes, big and small, just like Native Americans, who, likewise thought the same thing.  That’s why they killed one another and even occasionally engaged in cannibalism to celebrate their victories.  I mean, you’ve got to love those indigenous traditions.

Likewise, Europeans never saw themselves as Europeans, they were Jews and Poles, Englanders and French, etc.  This whole concept of race didn’t really begin its scientific life until about 250 years ago, give or take.  In reality, though, people didn’t know much about race, certainly not DNA or any of these other things until Europeans developed science, which was a uniquely European creation, not so long ago.

Colonialism, that other great sin, was likewise, just one more excepted way of life, dating to at least the beginning of civilization.  Which, let’s face it, was a long time ago.  Meaning, the water gets mighty muddy when looking for bad guys.  For the sake of argument, however, we will confine ourselves to America, over the last couple of hundred years.

If you were a Jew, for instance, you got your ass kicked everywhere you went. The Holocaust that wiped out about half of the world’s Jewish population, was a mere 70 some years ago, and was one of the worst genocides in human history.  Before that, Jews were beaten and driven from country after country—and yet, when they arrived on these shores with little education and faced massive bigotry, they excelled and thrived in spite of it. There were no special laws for Jews.  No special job programs.  Just hard work and education as a means getting out and getting up.  That was how they rose from the ashes of pogroms and genocide, to thrive like just about no other people on earth.

Hell.  My family on my father’s side were Slavic.  They were the original slaves.  That is where the term comes from.  Likewise the life expectancy for most Irishmen in the 19th century was not quite half that of the average slave.

When Europeans came here there was no welfare state.  No food stamps.  They risked life and limb to get here, and, when they did, they faced bigotry far greater than anything we see today, including ghettos and mass poverty. Relatively speaking, the history of people around the world has been horrific, short and brutal.  Slavery actually began on a wide scale in Africa and the Middle East, two of the few places on earth where slavery still persists today.  Democracy, was the aberration, not the norm.  And any history that doesn’t take those things into consideration, isn’t really history.

It was Christianity and Europeans, primarily, that changed the world for the better. Although, admittedly, it was a long and circuitous process.  Class division, racism, tribalism, those were the common reality of the past, throughout the world.  Most of it was eventually eliminated here and in Europe. But the left isn’t telling that story.

The real history of the world is a good deal more complex than the vacuous bullshit of popular culture.  And that is just about all that the left has anymore, lies, bullshit, self-serving propaganda, and disinformation.  But there is no shortage of ill-informed dummies who anxiously buy whatever their selling.  Victimhood is progress.  More like victimhood is a pathway to power.  Now grow up America.  Grow the-hell up.
