                  Obama's Latest Attack on Religion

Picture
Most Americans are at best slightly familiar with the Mormon religion. Even among those who claim to have some knowledge about this group, many may not remember the important role survivalism plays. The Mormon web site:  http://www.lds.org/family/family-well-being/home-storage?lang=eng   discusses this in some detail (Read it later, after you finish this compelling story!). The official church website shows how members can store away supplies and keep increasing these supplies until they have sufficient amounts to provide for their families for up to two years. If you are familiar with Tim LaHaye’s “Left Behind” series you will have an idea why they keep these supplies, although Christian’s think bad things will happen for three-and-a-half to seven years depending on who you talk to, so a two-year supply is nowhere near big enough.

The main point is that, when President Obama tries to denigrate Mitt Romney for having wealth distributed in foreign bank accounts, he is really attacking the Mormon Church’s policy, borrowed from the Boy Scouts, of “be prepared.” Democrats representing the President’s campaign miraculously appeared to proclaim that the only reason someone might wish to have a foreign bank account is to facilitate a tax haven or some other fraudulent scheme. Anyone who has studied Romney’s history and knows that he built his company from scratch after having given away his inherited wealth might ask one simple question:

If his inherited wealth was so unimportant to him that he was willing to give it away, and his father had been grooming him for the White House after making his own bid for the presidency, why would Mitt Romney risk committing a crime that would prevent him from achieving his eventual goal of becoming President of the United States of America?

Don’t think about it too long, it is not a trick question. There is no way that he would do something like that. That President Obama would assume a sinister role for these overseas accounts may expose some of his own hidden demons, but in the Romney case there is a much simpler explanation. Governor Romney has overseas bank accounts because he does business overseas and because as a survivalist, he doesn’t put all of his resources in one place. Overseas bank accounts are rich people’s version of hiding gold and silver coins around the house. If the bad times come, and our government fails, we need people who have assets abroad to help rebuild the country.

There has been a spate of Democrats recently accused and/or convicted of Tax Evasion. This explains Democrats lack of fear of higher taxes. They don’t intend to pay them. This is the same reason they are not afraid of tens of trillion of dollars worth of unfunded liabilities. They simply don’t intend to ever pay them. They are stealing their children’s and grandchildren’s good names so that they can have a better life today. This is the opposite of the American Dream, where each of us strives diligently to make a better life for our children and grandchildren.

Governor Romney has never shown a reluctance to pay his taxes. He is not a Tea Party Republican dedicated to reducing the scope and size of government. He has shown no fear of government’s growth, although he has expressed a reluctance to continue forward in a mad rush towards insolvency. It is, therefore, unlikely that he is covering up some great hidden misdeed in his past. More likely, he is simply reluctant to show just how generous he has been with his church and its missions here and abroad, since many Americans are uncomfortable with having a true believer in the highest office in the greatest country in the world.

President Obama and his campaign continuously seem to be bent on undermining the rights of those who actively choose to adhere to a private practice of religion. Privacy to practice your religion is a key part of many faiths. If people trumpet their gifts to others, then they have received their reward here on Earth. Only by hiding their generosity can they be rewarded in heaven. Forcing Governor Romney to release his supposedly secret tax forms will necessarily expose any good deeds that he has reported in secret. Even though his returns will probably show that he leads a very generous family, intruding on his privacy will still do damage. His returns have already passed internal inspection by the government. He has been running as the Republican Front Runner Candidate for President for the past four years under a strongly Democratic regime. Therefore, he has probably been audited each of the past four years by the IRS. Do we really need to go beyond that? The current return that he has released shows that there were no penalties paid this year for past filing inconsistencies. So, let us avoid trampling any more principles of religious freedom and leave people’s private, personal beliefs alone.
