Jesus: The Spirit of Man and God Who illuminates the Darkness
Jesus: The Spirit of Man and God Who illuminates the Dark
On this present Easter, I ask; is God a guy in the sky? Does he live up yonder? Is God a he? Does God have a gender?
Take a look around. My God! Look at the complexity of a single, human cell, more complex than the most complex computer known to man, with machinery moving materials around, building complex structures, with motors more efficient than anything we humans have ever produced. And that’s one cell, what ole Darwin thought of as a blob of flesh.
Wrong! Not even close.
And from there, it only get’s a lot more complex, indescribably complex, mysterious and deep.
Move outward, away from humanity to nature, and we find, once again, irreducible complexity, to quote Michael Behe, the evolutionary biologist, hated by many, loved by some, but unknown to most. Other scientists, the connected ones say; “No. life is not irreducibly complex.” At which point, they tell a story so unlikely, that no one would believe it if they knew any better. I’m not talking about Darwin. Darwin was undoubtedly right, all things evolve over time, changing as environments change, incrementally, until something new and fresh emerges. But, the idea that everything can be explained using Darwinism, is a leap that even Superman, at his very best, couldn’t make.
We, humans, are like the self-consciously blind, groping in the darkness, trying to understand how-the-hell we got here, wherever “Here” is.
Somehow, in the dim light of reason, though, we get by, aided by our senses and instincts that shouldn’t exist, but do, functioning like an inner-guiding light, a ghost of reason that’s just there, a spirit of life that infuses everything, a divine light, illuminating the darkness.
Now, tell me its all chance.
And then tell me who the ignorant believers are.
They may not be as easy to spot as you think.
