It's All or Nothing Baby!
The Washington Post offered up another of their daily hit pieces on Trump’s failures, after a whopping one months’ time in office. Apparently, the reporter visited a small town in America in order to get the inside scoop from the people who’d voted for him. One with authentic, dyed in the wool, working class, White people, and record what they had to say. But first, they had to find some, which wouldn’t be easy.
“Where do you suppose people like that live?” Asked the Post’s reporter. “Probably around some old, broke down diner, I’d think. Maybe a local bar? I mean, what do real working class Whites do, bedsides beat up Tran’s people and hold Klan rallies?”
This seemed logical to the writer who trod slowly and carefully around these savages, lest they awake and shoot a Black person, maybe rape a few women while drinking cheap beer and smoking oxytocin. But, they were willing to take the risk. To get at the truth. To expose Donald Trump’s America.
After reading the article, I was struck by the similarities between typical leftwing talking points and the words that were allegedly spoken by these working class, small town folk. Here’s an example:
“I’m distressed by the speed that Trump is implementing……I mean, putting into place his programs. I voted for him and all, but I was hoping he would move with usual, tortoise trapped-in-a-tar pit-pace that Washington was accustomed to. This seems an awful lot like fascism or something.”
Other interviews followed a similar pattern. The people were distressed that decades of failed policies, by democrats and republicans alike, hadn’t been changed in a month. After all, a month was a long time. You could binge watch 7 or 8 Netflix series in a month. And, I don’t mean any of those one season series, either.
Make no mistake, though, these interview were all on the up and up and weren’t fake news. Nope, they weren’t fake news, that’s for certain.
Personally, I’m not even sure how to deal with this kind of bullshit. Either the press is comprised of stunning dullards of a high order, or they’re a bunch of lying ideologues. I’m inclined to think it’s both. Unfortunately, the letters page was no better. People were happy for Trump’s alleged failures. They appeared to be downright gleeful, in fact, leaving me to conclude that a fair portion of the country is inhabited by sociopaths. Better for all to fail, than admit they’re wrong—or even wait a bit before passing judgement, I guess.
President Obama was still blaming President Bush, eight years into his tenure as leader of the free world. You’d think they’d give president Trump a little leeway. But no, it’s a scorched earth policy “All or nothing” that’s their game plan. Which, in the case of the DNC and their followers, is simply business as usual. I wish I could say it was otherwise. I can’t. And rationally speaking, neither can anyone else.
