Can Minorities Be Racist?
Can a member of a minority group be racist? As silly as this question sounds on its face, there are numerous academics who would say no. Their reasoning? It requires political and economic power to oppress people as a group. And, minorities, by virtue of being small in number, generally lack such power. This, of course, assumes that people only act collectively, and not as individuals. There are other problems with this theory, though.
For instance, the Nazis were never more than 7% of Germany's population. That was at their very peak. In spite of their limited numbers, they were both directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths of at least 60 million people. Were they a minority? Yes. Were they racists? Yes. The same thing was true of members of the communist party in the old Soviet Union.
But, there are other examples that don't deal in collectives of people. Here's a hypothetical. If an Asian man kills an African American man, motivated by a hatred of Blacks, is he racist? Obviously. This is true in spite of the fact that there are many times more African Americans, than Asians living in the U.S...
The aforementioned kind of thinking is basically rooted in Marxist theory. And, is an idea held primarily by "Leftist" academics. Make no mistake, your president believes this, as did/do all of his mentors, and I do mean "all." His view may be a bit more nuanced, but not by much.
Finally, kings, pharaohs, dictators, all, have one thing in common, they are very, very small minorities, ruling over very large majorities. So, the next time you hear this bullshit being spewed (as bullshit has a tendency to do) say "Hey, buddy! Shove that racist, old-school Marxist bullshit up your pie-hole. And then kick the dust of your heels and move on.
