Blood In The Water
Blood in the Water
Morgan Freeman is accused of sexual misconduct. Having watched two examples of Freeman’s alleged sexual impropriety, I have to say “Grow up!” So, Freeman’s a bit of a Lothario, a charmer engaging in sexual repartee with two women in separate interviews, one White one Black. Both of the women were obviously hired, in no small part, for their physical attractiveness, both were dressed in tight, short skirts, which were intended to demonstrate their legs, their hips, their overall physical attributes. Freeman’s words, off camera, including, the way he looks at them, suggests that he found them sexually attractive, in spite of being old enough to be their grandfather. This is Freeman’s career-destroying sin, being an old man trying to generate a little sexual heat, with a fine, young thing.
Is anyone surprised, even a little? Hollywood and the advertising industry sell sex in everything; books, magazines, TV, movies, but suddenly, everyone’s surprised that men find women attractive, and yes, sometimes think of them as sex objects. Freeman is 80. He was a young actor when James Dean and Elvis were revolutionary new stars. Should we consider these sapient factors? Or, is the only thing that matters, is what people think now, disconnected from the past?
Maybe there are other women with more substantial complaints against Freeman. This is Hollywood, after all, where mega-watt stars with all the charm, power, money, and fame in the world live as larger-than-life public figures.
Meanwhile, in the other film industry, a new porn market has burst wide open as the latest big money-maker—superimposing the heads of mainstream actresses on a pornstar’s body, while they have sex. I doubt that the actresses gave permission for the use of their image. Although, nowadays, who knows. Celebrity porn films are big business, some of them knowingly made, as a way of advancing a stalled career.
The one thing lacking in all of this is some shred of moral consistency. There is no moral high-ground here. There is only a moral chasm, as deep and dark as a well. But, again, everyone is surprised, demonstrating how many schmucks are lurking out there, who seem incapable of seeing the parallel.
In a sane world, it should be obvious that Hollywood and feminism go together like a hand gently placed in a glove filled with black widows spiders. Like Hillary Clinton, the feminist icon, covering for Bill, a man who was/is a genuine sexual predator, while using every political tool at her disposal to destroy the women who accused him, even though they were all credible Democrats. In other words, in a morally consistent world, Hillary would be no one’s feminist icon, just as Donald Trump is no Conservatives moral icon. The difference being that President Trump is widely viewed as a man with significant moral failures, by his base, but who is useful in an all-out culture and political war. Meanwhile, Hillary, the rape enabler, is lauded as one of the most significant figures in feminist politics. It’s why the Democrats and the media celebrate a porn star and her high-priced lawyer paid for by some unknown wealthy political partisans. But, hell, the press don’t care who's behind it. Because, to them, Stormy Daniels is a heroine. And anyone who disagrees, is a prudish bible-toting schmuck, thereby shifting the moral line in the sand as needed.
The reality is simple enough; accusations of sexual misconduct are powerful tools. With the acquisition of political power as the real endgame. Not fairness. Not woman’s rights. But power. And no one is too big or too powerful to avoid the centrifugal pull of all that money and power. Meaning, Stormy Daniels can be portrayed as the hooker with a heart of gold, but only as longs as she’s useful. Let her step on the wrong toes—accuse the wrong person—and she, like Morgan Freeman, will see just how corrupt the whole scheme actually is, as Hollywood and porn-stars combine forces to save the world, under the banner of progressive politics. Take away the financial and political incentives, and they’d just as quickly rip one another to shreds, like sharks in a feeding frenzy.
The only people who seem incapable of seeing this, not surprisingly, are the people chumming the water, who are perfectly contented to keep doing so. Just as long as it's your blood in the water—and not theirs.
